weird. i thought government was thinking 8 to the beginning of the mobile numbers. but you are saying that 8 is becoming the new 9!

They're running out of numbers! This 8 series has been recently launched in India. Reliance M&G has 8055 (as in BOSS). :P

But a question to be asked here is, Has Docomo sold so many cards in Karnataka that the 9035 & 9036 series are over? Weird.
