cool. i guess this is great news for future linux users on hayai.

----------

Honesty Net Solutions seems to be a cool company. even airtel has not done anything on the same lines.

good work but how is the speed? and how many users can it handle at a time with all getting decent speeds.

----------

It may be giving good speeds right now when few users are using it but will it be able to give good speeds once it becomes official mirror?

they are an ISP who are serving speedtest.net. i guess they know what they are doing with linux distribution 🙂

Do honesty net users get these files without MB being charged? (for MB based scheme) Is it located in their LAN itself?

These are "mirrors" for ubuntu-OS specific software and updates repositories, so no, Windows XP users are out of luck 😛Good question on whether HNS users get free data transfers and/or better speed...

i dont think so its on server. :readtherules:it wil come under bill

It is hosted on a server located in Mumbai @ Bhandup. It updates once or twice a day if I recall correctly.

I don't know about HNS billing practices, so I can't comment on that, but it is definitely in their local LAN.

HNS maintain a very neat data-center... small, but tidy and with very nice equipment.

If its LAN then it shud be free for IPs in that range atleast. Because packets wont pass thru gateway and hence wont get recorded.

You'd think. But like I said, I don't know their billing policies as far as local traffic is concerned. I would have to ask them myself.

maybe u should focus on providing a decent uptime on ur fiber lines in dadar rather than mirroring stuff !
- a frustrated HNS customer !
